1. The CS2 Beta Experience

As you may know, the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test has been going on since April, but a few days ago, everyone with a rank in competitive matchmaking recevied access to the test. Not only does this bring a lot more attention to the beta, but it also hints to the fact that the release of CS2 is getting closer. Of course, Valve aren't known for releasing their games in time, but it's best to not rush the development of their new game, as there is still a lot of work to be done.

I tried the beta for myself and so far, it's essentially what I expected. The changes made to several gameplay mechanics, along with the adaptation or complete redesign of several maps, make the game feel brand new, yet so familiar, which is something I quite like, after having dedicated so much time to CS:GO. I haven't had this much fun playing Counter-Strike in a while. By the way, the graphics are so nice that now turning your settings up to high is worth the slight decrease in performance (unless you need all the frames you can get).

However, I noticed that my frames per second are lower than in CS:GO. This was to be expected, but I can't stand dropping below 144 fps constantly. It's the CPU that's holding me back. I've considered upgrading to a better one, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. My laptop has a better CPU than my desktop PC (strange, I know!) so I'll try the game on it when I get the chance, on low settings because the GPU isn't as powerful as the one in my desktop. There is (or was?) also the possibility that tabbing out of the game crashes it, but it only happened on the first two days and I haven't experienced it since. Hopefully, it was a known problem that was solved and not just my computer.
